Professional Path

Chris’s professional path includes holding engineering positions with Nortel and management positions with Bell Canada, founding a boutique law firm specializing in technology and communications law, being a partner in a major Ottawa law firm, where he served as Chair of the Technology and Regulated Industries and Public Affairs practice groups, and most recently, serving as Vice-President of Law, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of a publicly-traded Internet company.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Chris received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Waterloo in 1981, and MBA and law degrees from the University of Ottawa in 1987. He has been a licensed professional engineer in Ontario since 1983 and has been qualified to practice law in Ontario since 1989 and in Alberta since 2005. He also practices law with respect to certain other Canadian jurisdictions in the manner permitted by the National Mobility Agreement of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and he is a registered Trade-mark agent in Canada. Chris is the author of a number of published articles and is a frequent guest speaker at professional conferences.
